Ross Kemp On Gangs S04E03 Belize WS PDTV XviD-REMAX

Another episode of the BAFTA award winning show “Ross Kemp on gangs”.

Belize
Belize is the smallest country in the whole of the Americas with a population of just over 300,000, but since becoming a major transit point for cocaine trafficked from Colombia to the US in the late 1980s, it’s developed a serious gang problem and become one of the most dangerous places on the planet.

Until recently, guns and cocaine were practically unheard of in Belize. Today the country is facing a massive crack cocaine problem, there are hundreds of semi-automatic weapons in the hands of gangs and the country has a per capita murder rate 5 times higher than the US, 98% of it gang-related.

Ross meets reformed gangsters who introduce him to the dangerous streets of Belize City and the gangs that control them. Ross gets to see a fraction of the weapons that make this city so violent, including grenades and high explosives, the new weapon of choice for the dozens of gangs which control Belize City.

This guy’s documentary is so exagerated! It is indeed a harsh reality that gangs are present in Belize City, but generalizing on the remainder of the country is totally unfair. Every city has crime, and the gangs that we have today are mostly a result of American Cable television (crips and bloods), so ridiculous, and are mostly located in Belize City. Every country in central america faces a lot of difficulty because of being in the path of south american cartels, and I’m sure that other countries have it far worst than we do because their drug/gang related crimes are spread country wide rather than just in the cities and are also more organized. I understand that Mr. Kemp has to make a living with his show but he should be careful with the costs involved. Our government is indeed working very hard to fight crime but you have to realize how limited our resources really are with such a small population and approximately 50% of it representing the work force. Ross Kemp should do a documentary on how many countries (ex-colonies) were exploited by his mother land and measure that against their development.

this documentary is bulshit, to say the least. how can a stranger come to Belize and come up with such conclusions if he doesnt even know what the country is going through? it is adsurd and should not be accredited by anyone as a liable research!!!!!!!!!!!! it is true that gang violence has risen in Belize, but he cannot make a broad generalization. if that was the case Belize would have so many prisons but it only has one. how many does El Salvador have? How many prisoners does Jamaica got? sure you can say that Belize has a way smaller population but do the ratio from population to natives and you will see what in talking about. can you walk in the any steet in El Salvador at night without even considering that you may be high jacked or even murdered? in Belize you can. i am 20 years old and have been in all six districts of Belize and the only place i fear is Belize city and only certain parts.

Mr. Kemp, will all respect; after viewing your video on gangs in Belize I felt so outraged! Your video was done in such a short time here in Belize I can’t help but laugh at your audacity and defamatory comments. I am almost sure you searched the poor ignorant people from the most impoverish areas and paid them to act! You were an actor too…you think like one! You generalized stating that the entire country of Belize suffer from crimes and drug related activities; that statement is false. If Belize is as dangerous as you stated on your videos; believe me, you probably would be dead. Furthermore, Belize does suffer from gang related activities, like every other country, but it is not severe, and it is ONLY in certain areas within Belize City and NOT the entire country! Your videos are far more repulsive and destructive that our small gang situation here in Belize. Because Belize has a flourishing truism industry, Belize is blessed with natural beauty such as: the second largest barrier reef, diverse and friendly cultures, deep rich jungles, and so much more, you are “poisoning the well.” History tells of “white men” raping our country and there you go raping us again! Everywhere you will find ignorant people who are willing to “sell out” their own country…Mr. Kemp you found a couple people who needed your money. To all those who have seen KEPM ROSS ON GANGS, he is a divorced actor who wants his name to be known around the world at the expense of others!

Belize is a great beautiful country, but the city has a lot of crime. Lets not fool ourselves crime is high and the respect for one another is lacking. Only Belizeans can fix their problems with the help of the many who are willing to get to the bottom of the issues that is causing the down fall of the country. Maybe education, improved health care, jobs can help combat drugs and HIV issues. If you love your beautiful country than help preserve it for the next generation.

There is quite a bit of news circulating each week about police coruption in Belize. Either someone is beat up badly or falsly accused because of poor investigation. I heard on the news that a family accused a police officer of killing their family member for retaliation, because he robbed the officer of his personal property. How to you expect citizens to respect the law when they see so much coruption going on and nothing is done. Until people stand up and make some postive changes nothing will change but the degree of how fast the country will feel the effect of loss income from tourisism. I love Belize but it’s sad how people with power that can make a difference continue to sit and allow corruption to occur. Wake up and make a change!

Like Mr. Clark, I too lived in Belize for some years & gave & gave. However these decadent & corrupt people would still stab you in the back, no matter how generous you were. It’s true that the jungles and shore lines are beautiful but you need to go through the Seedy and Ignorant populace, oppressed by an Dictatorial Regime for decades, that now lashes out at the rest of the World, specifically the tourists and investors. Gangs of Belize are everywhere there, from Punta Gorda & Placencia in the south, to the Prison Town of Dangriga, where the 36ers or garifuna gangs hide out. The capitol Belmopan has it’s own gangs, the National Police, who are responsible for most of the crimes against tourist & civilians, including armed robberies & murder. Belizeans call their country the Jewel, however Foreigners who’ve lived there call it the Cesspool.

I would like to one day visit Belize again. Belize continues to be a beautiful country despite it’s problems. Words are very powerful so people should be very careful about what they say. There are many negative remarks about Belize. It is important to focus on the positive. I believe negative remarks breed more negative remarks which can not welcome positivity. Please have compassion for those who may not understand how their negative behavior effects others. Belize continues to be a jewel for the many who visit. It is not cool or appropriate to lump people together and speak negative about a group of people. Instead of writing only negative things maybe you can help with positive solutions to help Belize with positive results. God Bless Belize and may you have a peaceful September Celebration!

In reply to garvin, rose colored glasses work well for movies, unfortunately they only blind you in Real Life. The Anarchy of the Belize Regime, pawns to Drug Cartels, is corrupted beyond redemption and reflected in the Anti-Americanism of it’s people. It will take a complete dismantling of this Elected Dictatorship, with a couple of Generations of education for the populace, to even begin to change the insidious nature of this Decadent Society & it’s Culture for Corruption. With a National Police force that has a 50 year history of Human Rights Violations as per Transparency & Amnesty International, how can anyone expected it to be “Peaceful”, anytime soon.
