Another release by RELOADED, this time the Madden of hockey, NHL 09. I’m gonna be crashing the boards with this one ASAP. Hockey may be dead on TV, but not enough for EA to keep pumping these games out.

Wtf, i cant play the game in no higer res than 1280×1024?? whats up with that?? no WS support?…….. omfg that sux

erhergb – is that listed in the review at ign? or in the public reviews? jujst curious
I heard this games physics were su[posed to make it head and shoulders above the previous 3.

This game is garbage. It’s NHL 08 with a lolnew mode; Be A Pro. Problem is Be a pro mode is only locking you into a position so even when your player isn’t on, you still control other players in that position. Unlike the hype lead you to believe, you don’t start in the AHL, you start in the NHL on the first line of whatever team you want. The AHL aspect and the hype about the Be A Pro mode is exclusively for xbox360/PS3, not sure about PS2. There isn’t even a lobby for online play. You have to enter an IP to connect to another PC, just like games did 15 years ago. EA deserves this game to be pirated, and in all honestly, it’s not even worth that.

@ Virauge So it’s a port with updated player stats basically? Forget features, how was the game play?

As I said, it’s NHL 08, if you played it, your getting the same thing. And it’s a PS2 port. Only difference is my system runs 08 better than 09, yet there is no graphic improvements. Seriously, it’s NHL 08 with a new mode, which took the developers 2 days to make.

My review of this game..

HORRIBLE!

- Many rosters are wrong, even with updates
- All goalie masks are generic
- Ice surfaces have not been updated to new looks
- Head coaches are generic
- I hear the same saying from Jim Houston 7 times in a game.
- There is nothing new from the past 3-4 years in EA NHL
- Graphics are the same the past 2-3 years.
- You can still do the ol’ “sega” moves – and win a hockey game 98-1.
- Playing modes are still the same – Dynasty mode, which is most peoples favorite, has nothing new!! Upgrades with stars, is still the reg!
- It still focases on those 2 dudes in the crowd all the time (game makers?)
- No new jerseys for teams, for example the maple leafs, have many more sweaters than what they offer.

I really wish EA would pull up their socks and do a total REMAKE of this game. Its been YEARS overdue!

I hope when I test NHL2K9, it has improved..

I have a problem when i want play with NHL09 on PC ! The international and NHL games don’t start and stay on loading in menu game status ??? Someones can be will help me please ?
