Beware of babies! Based on Umezu Kazuo’s notorious manga, Tamami: The Baby’s Curse (a.k.a. Akanbo Shojo) from Cromartie High School director Yamaguchi Yudai packs in the blood and the bizarro for a kitschy and entertaining J-horror that feels like something straight out of the 70s and 80s. Newcomer Mizusawa Nako plays a teenaged orphan girl Yoko who suddenly learns she’s actually not an orphan, and will be moving back in with her birth family. There are no time for happy reunions though in the creaky, dusty mansion that is her newfound home sincer her mother’s mad, her father’s oblivious, and the housekeeper is positively creepy. But worst of all is the crazy mutant killer baby that lives in the attic. Yoko, meet your twin sister.
