Joy division and Siouxsie Sioux pretty much invented Goth.

They thought of themselves as punk, but the music press of the time labelled them Gothic.

Joy Division clearly never sought to be, but the brooding frontman with a penchant for dark clothes and a dark personality clearly influenced the first wave of true goth bands such as Bauhaus.

Ian Curtis was a fantastic musician and he had something about him but he was a massive cunt (and that is an understatement!) that treated most of his friends like shit.

quite interesting for joy division fans even if some of the audio quality on the 70s recordings was understandably terrible. Control is the better film but this one fills in a bit more what was happening around that time in music

Joy Division were an English rock band formed in 1976
they rapidly evolved from their initial punk rock influences, to develop a sound and style that pioneered the post-punk movement of the late 1970s. the band were not punk but were directly inspired by its energy.
