Synopsis: A series of filmed home run contests between two sluggers of the late 1950s/early 1960s, one National Leaguer, one American Leaguer. The batters had to swing at every pitch in the strike zone. Any called strike or batted ball that did not go for a home run was an out. (Three outs per inning.) Before Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ series Sherlock was commissioned as three, 90-minute episodes, the BBC made one 60 minute pilot. The original plan was for this to go to air as the first installment but, for reasons unknown it was shelved, the longer format instigated, the script reworked and a new episode filmed.

This unaired pilot is included on the dvd released Aug 2010. Following a highly successful launch with over 7.5m viewers watching the first episode in July 2010, Sherlock returns for three new 90-minute episodes in Autumn 2011.

This TV series based on the popular character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a modern take on the novels. The TV series is set in the London of the 21rst century and we learn that Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a “consultant” who helps policemen when they don’t have a clue on how to close an investigation. In his adventure, Holmes is obviously helped by Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman). The show also stars Una Stubbs, Loo Brealey, Rupert Graves and Zoe Telford.
