A very interesting doco here called Collapse, read the synopsis/homepage of the movie for more information, which can describe the movie better then I ever could. Quality wise this release is good, perfectly fine for what a documentary needs.

Edit: Proper has been released by xSCR that fixes the downsampled audio. Video wise its almost identical, enjoy.

Synopsis: Michael Ruppert is an independent journalist who has made a minor career out of telling people news that most folks do not want to know. Ruppert, a former police officer, predicted the Wall Street debacle of 2008 several years before the fact, at a time when most analysts were still imagining infinite growth for the stock market and major investment banks. Since then, his vision of the world’s future has grown only darker. As Ruppert sees it, civilization and the global economy has yet to wean itself off fossil fuels, and when the world’s supply of oil finally runs out, it will lead to a global financial catastrophe that will leave no one unscathed. But while most of what Ruppert has to say bears the ring of truth, there’s a small audience for his dire message — the primary medium for his work is a self-published newsletter, and his most recent book has done so poorly in the marketplace that he faces eviction from his home. Is Ruppert right? And if he is, why doesn’t anyone care? Filmmaker Chris Smith profiles Michael Ruppert and gives him a chance to explain his apocalyptic vision of the future at length in the documentary Collapse, which was an official selection at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

I love the Golden Globe season, always brings great quality screeners. This time it’s team DoNE with the war drama “The Messenger”. It won a couple of awards across the globe and has a nomination in the Golden Globe for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture by Woody Harrelson . Quality is like most of the recent screeners, pretty high quality. Enjoy!

Synopsis: Co-written by Oren Moverman and Alessandro Camon, THE MESSENGER is a powerful and tender story about a returned war hero making his first steps toward a normal life.

In his first leading role, Foster stars as Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army officer who has just returned home from a tour in Iraq and is assigned to the Army’s Casualty Notification service. Partnered with fellow officer Tony Stone (Harrelson) to bear the bad news to the loved ones of fallen soldiers, Will faces the challenge of completing his mission while seeking to find comfort and healing back on the home front. When he finds himself drawn to Olivia (Morton), to whom he has just delivered the news of her husband’s death, Will’s emotional detachment begins to dissolve and the film reveals itself as a surprising, humorous, moving and very human portrait of grief, friendship and survival.

Featuring tour-de-force performances from Foster, Harrelson and Morton, and a brilliant directorial debut by Moverman, THE MESSENGER brings us into the inner lives of these outwardly steely heroes to reveal their fragility with compassion and dignity.

Well its based on a book, never read it. Ratings are decent, and I wonder quite honestly if its anything like The Golden Compass that type of anti religion movie. But as I said haven’t read anything on this movie, but with it coming out it gives me a reason too. Cheers and ENJOY!
Samples and NFO added, no visible watermarks/B&W screens will watch the entire thing and give updates.
UPDATE: As noted by a commentator, I’m lazy lol…. nothing visible from what I’ve seen, looks like a good copy :)

Synopsis: Innovative director Spike Jonze collaborates with celebrated author Maurice Sendak to bring one of the most beloved books of all time to the big screen in ‘Where the Wild Things Are,’ a classic story about childhood and the places we go to figure out the world we live in. The film tells the story of Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

Not exactly my kind of movie this one. Honestly can’t say if it will be good or not. Scores aren’t too high, but then again it is a family movie. The rip is of very nice quality for a dvdscr. From what i’ve seen tho, there are some copyright throughout the movie. Don’t know about black and white screens but i doubt that.

Good Hair LIMITED DVDSCR XviD-ZOOM

Posted by on Nov 7th, 2009, at 8:37 am in DVDSCR,Movies. 10 Comments

Heard about this movie, something about African Americans and their hair, and how it is etc… Apparently Chris Rock’s kid came to him and asked him why she didn’t have “straight hair” and then the movie was born. Chris Rock narrates so it sa bit of a Comedy/documentary type movie. Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Incredible ratings, so might grab this one.

Quality is good, audio is excellent. No B/W screens (that I saw), but there is a blurred watermark at the top that is not very noticable… unless you are particular.

Cheers and ENJOY!

Synopsis: In the movie SCHOOL DAZE, Spike Lee staged a dance number in which two bands of African-American college students debated the merits of “Straight and Nappy” hair in song, and now comedian Chris Rock and filmmaker Jeff Stilson have extended the conversation to a full-length film in this witty documentary with serious undertones. Rock says he was inspired to make the film when his young daughter asked him, “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” and he and Stilson examine black America’s obsession with their hair. They visit the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show, an annual trade show for the African-American haircare industry which includes fierce competitions among stylists from around the country and demonstrations of new hair products and techniques. Along the way, Rock also talks to a number of African-American luminaries about their hair issues (including Maya Angelou, Reverend Al Sharpton, Nia Long, Raven Symone, Ice-T, and Paul Mooney), researches the dangers of many common hair-straightening treatments, reveals the surprising expense of regular hair “relaxing” and weaves, and ponders what the pursuit of straight hair says about African-American cultural identity. GOOD HAIR received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Synopsis: Nat Parker (Christopher Walken) is one of a kind — ingenious, inventive and just this side of crazy. He’s also a clever con artist living in New Jersey with a hustle for every occasion who prides himself on living on $5 a day. For Nat, life is good. His son, Flynn (Alessandro Nivola), is quite another story. He’s at a dead-end job in LA and has long been estranged from his father. To make matters worse, he’s not having the best of days: first he loses his job, then his girlfriend Maggie (Amanda Peet) walks out on him, but not before informing him that the father he told her was dead just called to say he’s dying.

With Maggie gone and no job to show up for, Flynn contemplates his next move. Chances are his dad is lying and called with some scheme to get his attention. But on the off chance that there’s a shred of truth, Flynn decides to head east to find out the real story. When Flynn arrives, Nat lays out the details of his plan. He needs Flynn to drive him to a place out west where Nat can undergo an experimental treatment — as in free — and maybe he’ll live. To get there, Nat’s got all of his usual tricks up his sleeve: free gas, free food and a free car in the form of a pink PT Cruiser with a paint job advertising Sweet ‘N Low. Along the way, they reunite with Flynn’s old babysitter Dolores (Sharon Stone), who’s as sexy as ever and has become quite the gifted hustler herself, and then they have a fateful run-in with Burt Kruger (Peter Coyote), Nat’s nemesis.

As the miles pass and people come and go, they start to see each other through new eyes. With each event, they find out more about each other. Questions are answered, stories unraveled, emotions are healed, and the walls come tumbling down. But through it all, can Flynn finally forgive Nat for a lifetime of resentment? –© ThinkFilm

Synopsis: A haunted house makes no secret of the fact it is not pleased with its new tenants in this independent tale of supernatural horror. Katie (Katie Featherson) and Micah (Micah Sloat) are a twentysomething couple who’ve just moved into a new home in San Diego, California. Katie has an interest in the paranormal and believes that malevolent spirits have been following her since childhood, though Micah is not so easily convinced. However, after several nights of loud noises and strange happenings, Micah starts to agree with Katie that some sort of ghost may have followed them to the new home. After a paranormal researcher tells the couple he can’t help them, Micah decides to take control of the situation and sets up a battery of video cameras so that if a spirit manifests itself, he can capture its behavior on tape. Once the surveillance cameras are in place, Katie and Micah bring in a Ouija board in an effort to talk to the spirits, a move that deeply offends the ghosts. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY was the first feature film from writer-director Oren Peli.

Synopsis: It’s been a decade since Ben (Duplass) and Andrew (Leonard) were the bad boys of their college campus. Ben has settled down and found a job, wife, and home. Andrew took the alternate route as a vagabond artist, skipping the globe from Chiapas to Cambodia. When Andrew shows up unannounced on Ben’s doorstep, they easily fall back into their old dynamic of macho one-upmanship. Late into the night at a wild party, the two find themselves locked in a mutual dare: to enter an amateur porn contest together. But what kind of boundary-breaking, envelope pushing porn can two straight dudes make? After the booze and “big talk” run out, only one idea remains — they will have sex together on camera. It’s not gay; it’s beyond gay. It’s not porn; it’s art. But how exactly will it work? And more importantly, who will tell Anna (Delmore), Ben’s wife?

Writer/director Lynn Shelton, director of My Effortless Brilliance and recipient of the “Someone to Watch Award” at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards, expertly mines the biggest ironies of the male ego to hilarious effect. Humpday is a buddy movie gone wild. –© Magnolia
