Synopsis: Corporate salesman Steve Butler (Damon) arrives in a rural town with his sales partner, Sue Thomason (McDormand). With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company’s offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. Synopsis: Until his father’s death, Faizal had been a dissolute figure, but after a long period of procrastination, fuelled by his heavy use of hashish, he unleashes his family’s killer instinct with a fireside stabbing that soaks the screen in blood. If The Godfather is the model for the plotting in Kashaps’ epic story, then Brian De Palma’s Scarface seems to be the inspiration for the second bout of action, with part two of Gangs of Wasseypur upping the ante in terms of drug-abuse and semi-automatic weaponry to exciting and occasionally ridiculous effect.
