    Has anyone tried this with an unfinalized DVD from a stand alone DVD burner? I need to find some software for just that purpose, if anyone can help me out…

    pie_eyed_fry_guy you can try ISOBuster… that might be able to read your unfinalized dvd and can copy the data to your HD.
