A new theme for Scene Source: Starsauce!

Posted by on Sep 18th, 2010, at 10:40 pm in Site Stuff.

Hey everyone. It’s not a special day or anything; but I have been working on this new theme for a week now to perhaps enhance your reading pleasure while you’re browsing your favorite warez-scene specific release blog!

Starsauce” is the inspired name of the theme.

I made this basic javascript/php stylesheet switcher – so at the top right of the header you can select either the default style, “Dark” or the secondary style, “Bright” and it will load the style without a page reload and of course save your preference. The theme is compatible with all modern browsers and even Internet Explorer,  due to the incorporation of this script. Change the theme in the sidebar or click on the image above :).

Hope you enjoy it guys.

Ps. Find any bugs let us know :D.

Ps2. Internet Explorer users: When you change the style you need to click the button then refresh the page. Please upgrade to Firefox/Chrome/Opera!

    Looks nice, The load more button doesn’t work at the bottom though. Been using the Dark theme becuase I love that feature, and I like the look of it more.

    I really like it. I’m glad you kept a close relationship with the old colors for the most part. I hope it’s more bandwidth friendly, as it’s quite lovely.

  13. 13. jix._. Sep 19th, 2010 at 3:04 am

    yes! nice work! πŸ™‚
    but i also miss “load more”, it would fit perfectly opposite to the paging links…
    i also enjoyed the first couple of days of scnsrc v2, when load more executed automatically as soon as you hit the bottom. might consider that again.

    anywho lots of cookies for you for once again doing an awesome job! πŸ™‚

    @jix

    You have kinda just convinced me I need to work the fucker that is “infinite scroll” out. See: http://www.infinite-scroll.com/

    I had it working on this theme during the beginning but sadly it broke and well, it’s been like a needling in a time-wasting haystack trying to get it working so I removed the code from the theme and and going to try to get it going again – in addition ill also try and add an auto load toggle button, like you mentioned as I find it’s actually a kinda useful feature really :D.

    awesome new theme keeping it πŸ™‚

  18. 18. jix Sep 19th, 2010 at 4:58 am

    @Nuzz
    glad we share the same opinion on this one πŸ™‚
    i never used infini-scroll, but as with anything built around jquery, implementation seems pretty straightforward.
    i just copied the basic example, fiddled selectors for scnsrc into it, launched it via the good old firebug and it immediately worked. here’s what i did:

    $(‘#content’).infinitescroll({
    navSelector : “#navigation”,
    nextSelector : “#navigation a.nextpostslink”,
    itemSelector : “#content div.wrap”
    });

    …so yeah, go ahead and build that checkbox functionality, that would be awesome! πŸ˜€

    @buschwusch

    Just fixed that issue it should have reset the theme for everyone now. Just re-enable and all is well methinks.
    If it persists (checked in chrome myself) select another theme then visit: http://www.scnsrc.me/?wptheme=Starsauce and should be fine (WP Theme changer plugin screw up I suppose).
    Thx guys.

    1) Digging this theme, made the switch from Greysauce πŸ™‚

    2) OT:

    Images on ScnSrc are displaying correctly on Chrome http://i52.tinypic.com/2wqsyn5.jpg IE http://i52.tinypic.com/spi641.jpg but not FF 3.6.10 http://i56.tinypic.com/29dcrrk.jpg and FF is my default…

    So if anyone has any tips/ideas, please let me know – cheers πŸ˜‰

  36. 36. 7 Sep 19th, 2010 at 2:19 pm

    I personally don’t like it, and i’ll tell you why most of the people will probably stick with the old one, which is, well, great. There’s basically only one color, it’s all gray and it’s just.. boring, it looks more like something you’d make only by messing with frames and stuff in html, not some serious layout. The overral ‘grayness’ and the ’roundness’ of some corners bothers me. Make some elements stand out from the background and get rid of the ‘post-to-middle-of-the-page’ divider, that’s my advice.
    Also – orange-white – great, orange-black – not so much.
    Okay, I’m going to sleep.
